It's time to warm up a bit with a special SCANZ tour of the sweet Chelsea Sugar Factory!  

Firstly, a special thanks to John Gilbert for organising this!

The tour will fully immerse you, walking through the working factory floor and travelling around our Chelsea Bay Train site. You will learn how raw sugar arrives at Chelsea and becomes the final product in supermarkets. Learn about the history of the Chelsea site, taste test delicious syrups, and see the wondrous sugar mountain!  

The unique part is that your guide will be the Production Manager of the refinery, so feel free to ask questions.

Now, the details. 

• The tour costs $25.  
• There is a limit of 18 people on tour, so we will start with only allowing SCANZ members but will include a waitlist if we do not fill all the spaces. The tour will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
• We need people there at 1.45 pm at the latest! The tour will start at 2 pm, but you miss out if you are not on time. 
• The tour will last an hour. There are a few steps, but this should be easy for everyone to attend.
• Everyone on tour must wear a long-sleeved top, long pants/tights, and flat-soled, enclosed shoes. Basically, you must cover your skin. Chelsea will provide your safety gear, including a pink hi-vis vest, hairnet, pink helmet, and safety glasses.

After the tour, we will head over to The GoodHome Birkenhead, 83 Birkenhead Avenue, Birkenhead, a comfortable, warm location a few minutes drive away for some drinks, nibbles and networking.  There is heaps of parking under the building with access via Onewa Road.
