Sir Ray Avery

Sir Ray Avery is a successful businessman, scientist, inventor and social entrepreneur.

He is a creative thinker, always looking for new or better ways of doing things and as outlined in his memoir "Rebel with a Cause" the disadvantages of his childhood have not held him back from a lifetime of achievements across a wide range of business and humanitarian areas.

His work has been recognised by his peers and he has received numerous awards including a Rotary Paul Harris Medal, The Bayer Research and Development Innovator Award 2008, World Class New Zealand Award for Biotechnology 2009, TBWA Disruption Award 2010, and Kiwi Bank New Zealander of the year 2010 and The Blake Leadership Medal 2010.

In 2011 Ray was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit Knight of the Grand Companion in the New Year Honours for services to philanthropy. He was also voted Most Trusted New Zealander in the Reader’s Digest annual survey.

Always entertaining and engaging, Ray's observations on the business community and the human condition are enlightening, relevant and very funny.
